The Museo de Bellas Artes is the second-largest art museum in Spain, renowned for its collection spanning from the 15th to 19th centuries, with a focus on Valencian and Renaissance works. The museum showcases significant pieces from artists such as Sorolla, Goya, and other representatives of Gothic and Renaissance art. Particularly noteworthy are the rooms dedicated to Valencian artists Pinazo and Benlliure, highlighting the region's artistic history. The museum is housed in a historic building originally constructed as the Colegio Seminario San Pío V in 1683, which has served multiple purposes over the centuries, from a military academy to a hospital. In 1946, it became the permanent home of the museum. Visitors can explore works by a variety of European masters, including Velázquez, Murillo, and Van Dyck, among others. In addition to paintings, the collection includes sculptures, drawings, prints, and architectural relics. The Patio del Embajador Vich and the museum’s little-known Velázquez pieces are also key highlights.
