Official tourist guide nº 728 · Comunitat Valenciana · since 2014
I'm Jaume Brines - native Valencian, archaeologist, and Spanish teacher. For over a decade I've been showing travellers the Valencia I grew up in: the history under the streets, the food that never makes the guidebooks, and the villages an hour away that most visitors never hear about.

Before I was a guide I was an archaeologist. I spent more than ten years excavating across Europe - early-medieval settlements in Ireland, Alpine sites in Austria, Roman layers in Italy - and co-directed campaigns closer to home in La Valldigna. When I walk you through Sagunto or the old town of Valencia, I'm not reciting a script; I'm reading the ground the way I was trained to.
I grew up with Las Fallas, with rice fields on the horizon, and with a language of our own. That's the Valencia I want you to meet: the Silk Exchange at the hour the light comes through the columns, horchata where the tiger nuts actually grow, paella cooked over orange wood the way it's done inland.
Every tour I run is private and built around you. Bring your questions, your kids, your grandmother - we'll set a pace that works and go looking for the details everyone else walks past.

“Great tour. There were only 4 of us, but Jaume, our guide, was super and made the tour very enjoyable and kept us fully engaged throughout. He spoke very well in English and used his folder of supplementary info well, to give us extra background on each of the places we saw with him. This was a smashing way to begin our visit to the city and we took up several of his recommendations for other places to visit later by ourselves.”
